Östersund Telemark Club (ÖTC)ÖTC was founded in 1988 in Östersund, a small town in the middle of Sweden. The town is well known for its perfect winter sport conditions. Several ski resorts are located within an one-hour drive, making Östersund a perfect place to live for people interested in alpine skiing. The most famous resort in the county of Jämtland is Åre, located 100 km west of Östersund. Åre hosted the 2007 FIS Alpine World Championships. Östersund Telemark Club has about 400 members from all over Sweden. The club’s main activity is to offer and organize telemark ski courses aiming at making telemark skiing available for everybody, thus spreading the joy of free heel skiing. 
The events organized by the club include an early December weekend ski school at Ramundberget, a ski school in January in Åre and a Free Heel Fiesta, a combined ski school and telemark clinic, also held in Åre, in March. The club’s ski instructors are all educated by professional ski instructors and attend a three-level ski instructor course held every December. We also organize further education for our instructors. Moreover, ÖTC has the capability of organizing courses in avalanche safety as well as skiing trips to different places. As a member of ÖTC you are welcome to participate in all of the club’s different events and as an extra bonus there are discounts in certain shops and restaurants for ÖTC members. ÖTC is a non-profit club run by members devoting some of their spare time to spreading the interest for telemark skiing. The club has a board and a few groups of people working together at the different annual events. This website, www.telemark.se is the main source of information for the members. ÖTC members often ski together on the slopes and mountains of Jämtland and other places. If you want to try telemark, or if you already have discovered it, ÖTC is the club for you.
